Tenebris Somnia pre order: Editions, Price, Dates

See what the Tenebris Somnia pre order includes: limited physical editions, a $34.99 listing, platforms, bonuses, and 2026 ship windows.

Physical horror pre-orders fail when the bonus, the print run, or the street date is fuzzy. The Tenebris Somnia pre order is worth slowing down for, because the cartridge and disc versions are limited, preservation-tested, and packed with store extras that a digital wishlist does not include. Read the Tenebris Somnia pre order details below before a 500-copy Xbox run, or a rumor about a signed poster, sends you to the wrong listing.

What You Are Actually Buying

Tenebris Somnia is a single-player 2D survival-horror adventure from Saibot Studios, published by New Blood Interactive, with Airdorf (the developer of Faith: The Unholy Trinity) as executive producer. Director Andrés Borghi, a horror filmmaker whose short Alexia is a favorite of Airdorf's, built the game with an award-winning film crew in Buenos Aires. New Blood has described the production as handing a film director enough budget to make a game that also contains a film.

The playable side uses a retro pixel look in the 8-bit and 16-bit tradition, viewed as a side-scroller. Combat and exploration follow the old survival-horror squeeze: barely enough health, barely enough ammo, and plenty of moments where a wrench or a pipe is the real weapon. At story checkpoints the image cuts to live action with real actors and practical creature work, then throws you back into pixels. The team has stressed that those handoffs should feel like one nightmare, not a movie mode bolted onto a separate game. People will show up for the filmed scenes. The pitch from New Blood is that the puzzles and encounter timing should hit just as hard.

You follow Julia, played by Clara, an actress the developers call Argentina's scream queen. She has been dreaming of her ex, Ivan, being torn apart by monsters, and she goes to his apartment even though they have been apart for a long time. The story digs into both of their heads and into what happens when a creative partnership becomes a romance, including the harm of turning someone into a muse. Cutscenes have no spoken lines. Feeling is carried by performance, more silent film than typical full-motion video. A silicone mask was sculpted from Clara's face so a creature reads, at a glance, like her. The developers have said the work is practical effects, limited digital cleanup, and camera craft, and that it took dozens of people and hundreds of hours.

Developer commentary in a New Blood deep dive also flags design details that matter if you are deciding whether this is your kind of horror:

  • Resource starvation is intentional, in the Resident Evil and Silent Hill sense, not a bug to patch out later.
  • Puzzles are tied to what the characters lived through before the nightmare started. One puzzle was described as strong enough to make a veteran horror developer want to cry and scream at once.
  • A candle boss called Oscuratus is heard laughing before he is seen. You only confront him after you make the room fully dark.
  • The game ships with four endings, and the team has said more secret endings exist that they are not ready to talk about.
  • Composer and sound designer David bridges the pixel scenes and the live action with a retro horror score, while a lot of the effects stay abstract on purpose.

Retail copy lists subtitles in English, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, and Spanish from Spain. That fits the stated goal that an Argentine game should feel natural no matter which language you play. The GameStop listing still shows an ESRB Rating Pending badge and no content descriptors. That page also had no customer reviews when it was checked, so scare level and tone are still developer-described, not a scored player consensus.

How the Physical Editions Differ

The physical Tenebris Somnia pre order splits into two Lost In Cult tiers. Both are console copies of the full game, tested under the shop's preservation pitch: latest patches on the disc or cartridge, no internet connection and no download required to play, with DoesItPlay? cited as the tester. On Nintendo Switch 2, Lost In Cult says this is a complete cartridge, not a Game-Key Card, and that it is the label's first physical Switch 2 release. The Xbox copy is also a first for that shop.

Retail+, the standard physical release, adds store-exclusive pre-order bonuses: a fold-out poster and a set of polaroid-style art cards. Choose this if you want a shelf copy that boots offline and a couple of paper extras.

EDITIONS is the numbered collector box. It includes the Retail+ game and bonuses, then stacks on a custom illustrated mailer, an essay and developer-interview booklet, exclusive variant cover art, original outer slipcase art, a color-themed inner slipcase printed with a release number, a separate unique fold-out poster, four captioned art cards picked by the developer, and an individually numbered authenticity card. The shop has said final artwork was still to be revealed, so part of what you are reserving is the object itself.

Three thousand numbered boxes is a small run even for boutique physical horror. Xbox is the tightest slice at 500. Retail+ is not given a public cap in the pages reviewed here, so sell-out pressure hits the numbered tier first.

One bonus is already gone. Orders placed in the first 48 hours were supposed to receive a fold-out poster signed by Andrés Borghi. Lost In Cult posted the end of that offer as 08/06/2026. As of October 17, 2026, that date is past whether the UK shop meant June 8 or a reader misreads it as August 6. Do not pay a reseller premium because an old caption still mentions a signature.

Price, Platforms, and Listing Gaps

For a mass-retail Tenebris Somnia pre order, the clearest number on the page is $34.99. GameStop lists a new copy at that price for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Brand and publisher fields both say Lost In Cult. The developer field on that same page says "Sailbot Studios," which does not match Saibot Studios on the Lost In Cult shop. Treat Saibot as the studio name unless the developer publishes a rename. The retail spelling looks like a listing typo.

Lost In Cult's own Tenebris Somnia physical release page is the writeup that actually itemizes print caps, the poster, the cards, and the EDITIONS booklet. The text reviewed from that page does not include a price. Do not assume the $34.99 tag buys the essay, the numbered slipcase, or the authenticity card. Those are EDITIONS pieces. The GameStop feature list covers the retro survival loop, the Argentine live-action scenes, and the subtitle set. It does not mention the poster or the polaroids. If those bonuses are the reason you are paying, match the SKU before checkout.

Pre-order billing noteGameStop says billing starts when the order is processed
Shipping noteFree shipping advertised on pre-orders of $59 and up, exclusions apply

A single $34.99 copy can miss a $59 free-shipping line, so the amount you pay is not automatically the shelf tag. Pickup copy says orders are ready on or shortly after release day, which only helps if a store near you has stock. The same GameStop scrape also mixed "pre-order" controls with "currently unavailable," and it showed broken purchase-limit boilerplate ("0 per account"). That widget text is not a real buying rule. Recheck the live listing the day you pay.

Digital is a different checkout. In the New Blood deep dive, viewers are told to open the Steam page and wishlist the game. A wishlist is not a Lost In Cult disc, and it will not include the slipcase or the polaroids. Use Steam if you want a PC launch ping. Use the physical shops if you want the carton, the cap, and a copy that is supposed to run with no download.

Release Timing You Should Verify

Dates are the messy part of a Tenebris Somnia pre order. Three public sources do not agree, and none of them should be treated as a personal delivery promise.

SourceDate it givesHow to use it
New Blood deep diveOctober 16, no year spoken in the transcriptIf the year is 2026, that day already fell on the eve of this article
Lost In CultDigital launch in Q4 2026; physical shipping estimated Q4 2026 through Q1 2027Playing and shelving are on different clocks
GameStopRelease date shown as December 31, 2026Can be a real receiving date or a placeholder for an unset street date

Q4 2026 runs from October 1 through December 31, so an October 16 digital unlock and a "Q4 2026" line can both be true. A December 31 retail date can also be the last day of that quarter, which store systems often use when a final street date is not locked. It can just as easily be when some warehouses expect product. It does not match a spoken October 16, and it does not match a ship window that Lost In Cult already stretches into early 2027.

As of October 17, 2026, the physical pages reviewed for this article were still written as pre-orders. If your goal is to play this month, look at Steam and New Blood's channels before you pay for a disc. If your goal is a numbered box, the relevant clock is the Q4 2026 to Q1 2027 shipping estimate, not a Halloween night on the couch. Ordering the physical game for an October 2026 weekend is the wrong tool.

A Checkout List Before You Pay

Run through this Tenebris Somnia pre order list in order. Skipping a row is how people buy the standard $34.99 SKU and then discover the booklet was never in that cart.

StepDo thisWhy it changes the purchase

8Wishlist on Steam only if you want PC newsA wishlist does not reserve a 500-copy Xbox box

A few extra filters help if you are comparing this to other 2026 horror pre-orders. Buy the physical edition if offline preservation, the Switch 2 cart, or the art objects are the point. Skip it if you mainly want the cheapest way to see the four endings, because a digital copy will not ask you to wait on a mailer. Skip the reseller market for "signed" copies unless the seller can show the poster was part of that closed 48-hour window and you are comfortable paying a collector premium for paper, not for more game. And if a page still says final EDITIONS art is forthcoming, you are reserving a package whose last illustrations were not public in the text reviewed here.

New Blood's own framing is useful as a last taste test. The studio talks about this the way it talks about Dusk, Ultrakill, Faith, Gloomwood, Fallen Aces, and Blood West: a game it wanted to make, aimed at people who like being scared on purpose. The deep dive's closing dare, from Faith's creator, is simply to play it. That is a mood pitch, not a review score. There is not a player-experience consensus to quote yet.

FAQ

Is the Tenebris Somnia pre order only for consoles?

The physical pre-orders covered here are Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The New Blood deep dive also points viewers to a Steam page to wishlist the game, so PC is part of the digital plan. Print caps, the poster, the polaroids, and the $34.99 figure belong to the console physical release, not to a confirmed PC price.

Does $34.99 include the limited booklet and numbered card?

That price is the GameStop listing for a new copy. The essay booklet, numbered slipcases, developer art cards, and authenticity card are described as EDITIONS contents on Lost In Cult's shop. Confirm which tier is in your cart. The retail feature bullets do not list those collector pieces.

When does the physical copy ship?

Lost In Cult estimates physical shipping in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027. The same page puts the digital launch in Q4 2026. A developer deep dive says October 16 without stating a year. GameStop displays December 31, 2026. Those can be reconciled only by checking the live page on the day you order, and a physical pre-order is a poor bet if you need a copy in hand this month.

Is the signed poster still available?

No. The first 48 hours of orders were tied to a fold-out poster signed by Andrés Borghi, and the shop posted an end date of 08/06/2026. That date is already behind us as of October 17, 2026. Standard pre-order bonuses described for Retail+ and EDITIONS are the unsigned poster and art cards, not the signature.
